After the critical and commercial success of his second directorial effort — 2010’s “The Town” — Ben Affleck finally put his previous life as a tabloid magnet in the rear-view mirror for good. More than that, he completely reinvented himself as a proficient and talented filmmaker behind the camera.

Now comes “Argo,” which once again finds Affleck directing and starring in. In the fact-based political thriller, Affleck plays a CIA specialist who devises a risky plan to free six Americans hiding away from the Iranian revolution.

As with “The Town,” “Argo” will make its premiere at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival, followed by a domestic release on October 12.
